Genetic engineering

Genetic engineering is the term used to describe targeted interventions in the genetic material of living organisms by which the DNA is modified. The Laboratory for Genetic Engineering at FH Aachen in the Faculty of Chemistry and Biotechnology is a modern place of research and innovation. We offer students the chance to get to grips with the latest technologies in genetic engineering and to take part in exciting projects. Our laboratory has state-of-the-art equipment and expert staff to support students in all genetic engineering work. From amplification to DNA isolation and analysis, we offer a wide range of opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in genetic engineering. Practical training includes experiments in virtual and practical cloning of DNA fragments, isolation and characterisation of nucleic acids, and identification and characterisation of genetically modified microorganisms through various PCR variants and restriction mapping. Our genetic engineering laboratory is the ideal place to prepare for a successful career in biotechnology.
