Plastics technology

The pilot plant for plastics technology is designed to meet the high demands of research and development at the Institute of Applied Polymer Chemistry (IAP), but it also serves to train young scientists. It is a valuable aid for initial tests, formulation and process developments in the field of plastics and rubber production, processing and modification. To meet this demand, the technical centre is comprehensively equipped with various enclosures, including a twin-screw extruder, kneader, rolling mill, laboratory injection moulding and corona plant. Product assessment can also be carried out on site by the laboratory for polymer chemistry with an air-conditioned measuring and testing room for determining rheological, thermal and mechanical characteristic values.
