Laser Technology
The term laser technology summarises a wide range of processes and applications for lasers as a measuring and processing tool. These include very different areas of application in the fields of optical metrology, data transmission and information processing, basic scientific research, medicine (e.g. ophthalmology) and materials processing. Laser material processing in particular is of great economic importance here and includes numerous manufacturing processes in modern production technology, for example in photovoltaics, battery technology, the production of displays and microelectronics (e.g. smartphones) and the automotive industry.
In the laboratory for laser technology, students gain an insight into the basics and possible applications of laser radiation. In addition, they can participate in current research and development topics as part of practical projects and final theses. Our main focus is on the following two areas
Micromachining with ultrashort laser pulses
Laser beam sources based on disc laser technology
