Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics

Engineers work in a broad professional field with various specialists, often also in international teams. We prepare our students for their future careers in the best possible way through practical and versatile teaching.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics is one of the oldest faculties at FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences (see History of the Faculty). Engineers have been trained in Goethestraße in Aachen for more than 120 years. We keep in touch with our graduates and therefore know that they do well in their careers. The top rankings in the annual university of applied sciences rankings of WirtschaftsWoche speak for the good quality of our university education.

Thanks to many application-oriented elements in teaching, our degree programmes have a strong practical orientation. Almost all Bachelor's and Master's theses are dedicated to practice-relevant issues and are carried out in technology-oriented companies. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics has maintained close relationships with various companies for decades and is constantly expanding its network.

In the Mechanical Engineering bachelor's degree programme, the fundamental topics of mechanical engineering are taught at a demanding level. In addition, in-depth knowledge can be acquired in individual selected technical subjects. The interdisciplinary bachelor's degree programmes in mechatronics and industrial engineering (specialising in mechanical engineering) are conducted in close cooperation with the faculties of electrical engineering and information technology, aerospace engineering and economics, respectively.

Every year, we are pleased about the many new students who choose our degree programmes. Special mentoring programmes and dedicated contact persons help to master the initial challenges of studying. We wish all our students successful studies and a wonderful time here with us at FH Aachen!
