Examination Regulations, Transitional Regulations & Module Handbooks

Have you ever read your Examination Regulations? You should! All Examination Regulations (including the Framework Examination Regulations) can be found centrally on the FH Aachen website under FH-Mitteilungen, see: https: //www.fh-aachen.de/downloads/fh-mitteilungen/pruefungsordnungen

On this page you will find important information about Examination Regulations (PO).

The respective module handbooks of the FB08 for the degree programmes can be found here for all students of the FB08, after successful login to the website. If someone "external" is interested in a module handbook, please send an e-mail to the Examinations Office.

Expiry of the old Examination Regulations 08/2023 and "four-semester block"

If you registered for one of our Bachelor's degree programmes before 2018/19 and have not yet switched to a new Examination Regulations, you must complete your studies by 31.08.2023! If you do not complete your degree by this date, you will be transferred "ex officio" to the current Examination Regulations. This may lead to an extension of your degree programme.

Find out in good time using the Examination Regulations, the cancellation and transitional regulations and plan carefully whether the remaining four examination periods (July 2022, September 2022, February/March 2023, July 2023) are sufficient. If in doubt, speak to the relevant programme director.

Change of Examination Regulations / Transitional Regulations

An application to change to a newer Examination Regulations for the same degree programme can be submitted at any time. Processing takes place between the examination periods so that you can usually register for the next examination period in the new PO. The following also applies:
You can voluntarily switch from an expiring PO to the currently valid PO at any time, provided there is a cancellation regulation for the expiring PO.

In both cases:

  • Please send informal applications (with student ID number and current degree programme/PO) to the Examinations Office only.
  • If you have submitted an application to the PA chairperson and have not yet received a reply, please resubmit the application to the Examinations Office.
  • Please understand that a PO change is a labour-intensive matter and in the current situation can only be processed with priority in very urgent cases.

In order to limit the flood of enquiries on the subject of PO changes, here is the essence of the cancellation regulations and transitional rules.

  1. Nobody MUST switch to the new PO. Exception: you do not complete the programme by August 2023. Then the compulsory transfer will take place.
  2. Dates for the expiry of courses and lectures and examinations can be found in the cancellation regulations.
  3. There are equivalent replacement modules for subjects/examinations that are no longer offered (see transition rules)
  4. Examination credits are generously credited to each other. Nobody has to change because of practical training.
  5. If you want to change to the new PO despite the 1st - 4th, please explain the individual advantages of the new PO for you. Please note that the administrative effort is high and may take some time depending on the availability of staff in the Examinations Office.

The cancellation regulations of the "old" Examination Regulations can be found in the download area of FH Aachen under the respective Examination Regulations. Further rules, especially for the mutual recognition of module achievements from the old and new PO, can be found in the download area of FB 8.
