Dates and deadlines

Universities have their own calendar, so to speak. The academic year consists of the winter and summer semester, abbreviated WiSe and SoSe respectively. At Aachen University of Applied Sciences, the winter semester formally begins on September 1 and ends on February 28/29, while the summer semester formally begins on March 1 and ends on August 31. However, the lecture period usually starts in mid-September or mid-March and ends in mid-January or mid-June. During the first three weeks of the lecture-free period, exams are written. After this period, the so-called semester break begins.

Many lectures include practical or laboratory trainings for which you have to register. The professor responsible for the module determines how to register for the laboratory training belonging to the lecture and - very important - within which deadlines one can register for this training. Therefore, it is recommended to attend the first lecture of the semester, because in this first lecture you will be informed about the deadlines and the procedure of the practical training registration. Some professors of the FB8 also inform on their homepage how they handle this (see FB8 - Homepage: People). Some post information about this in Campus or Ilias. If you don't want to search, you should definitely attend the 1st lecture of the semester!

The exam registration deadlines and the dates when exams are written in FB8 are here in this file. Those who study across faculties (e.g. Mechatronics or Engineering Management) must also take into account the registration deadlines and exam dates for faculties 5,6,7 und 8. Unfortunately, these dates change from time to time.
Exam registration can be done via CampusOffice or directly via the QIS portal. In CampusOffice, select "Exam Administration" on the left side and you will be directed to the QIS portal. After logging into the QIS portal with your student account, you get access to various services, such as the registration for exams. In QIS, you can also view your grades, change your contact details or check if you have already paid your tuition fees.
