Projects
Milestones in quality development can be pursued and achieved through project work in particular. Over the past decades, FH Aachen has successfully implemented large and small funding projects in the area of study and teaching. The ZHQ is the lead organisation or partner in third-party funding calls and project consortia and also carries out its own projects in the field of research. For calls for proposals in the field of study and teaching, the ZHQ offers advice on the application process and scientific support during implementation.
Current projects
Study on dropping out & transferring to another university | since 2012
In order to design university-specific measures to reduce student dropout, university-specific studies provide the best scientific basis compared to context-unspecific results from nationwide dropout research. For this reason, FH Aachen began a cooperation with seven universities from North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012 to develop a corresponding survey of former students without a degree, which led to a joint project with other universities and ISTAT in 2018 that is still ongoing today.
KOAB | Co-operation Project Graduate Studies | since 2008
FH Aachen has been taking part in the Co-operation Project Graduate Studies (KOAB) since 2008. In this research project, around 60 universities in Germany cooperate in setting up and conducting their graduate studies(participating universities). They all use a jointly developed questionnaire and also use the results in comparison with the results of other universities or comparable degree programmes to develop the quality of studies and teaching.
New Appointee Programme "Arriving in Teaching" | since 2019
The"Arriving in Teaching" programme for newly appointed professors at FH Aachen was introduced to help them get off to the best possible start. The project serves the conception, organisation, implementation and evaluation of the basic course and the accompanying coaching and is a cooperation with the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences.
ORCA.nrw state portal network | since 2020
FH Aachen has set up a network centre for networking within NRW, particularly on the subject of Open Educational Resources and for advising teachers on the design and use of free teaching and learning materials, e.g. for the state portal ORCA.

HD@DH.nrw | University Didactics in the Digital Age | since 2020
The project"HD@DH.nrw - University Didactics in the Digital Age" offers a wide range of further training opportunities for teachers in various formats - from self-study modules to blended learning, exchange in the teaching-related community and the comprehensive six-month format of the Digital Teaching Lab. The Digital University finances the project, which is supported by 13 universities in NRW. FH Aachen is in charge of the content.
DoLL | Digitalisation offensive for teaching & learning | since 2020
The aim of the digitalisation offensive is to promote the digitalisation of teaching at FH Aachen. In order to support lecturers with the technical and didactic challenges of digital teaching, site advisors have been established. In addition, funds are provided to promote teaching innovations and self-study modules are designed. In order to promote students' digital skills, the project also includes events for students such as summer schools and winter schools.
