MINT - More Innovation for a New Tomorrow

Science, research and politics are working at full speed on a roadmap for the future in which a dignified life is possible worldwide while at the same time the natural foundations of life are permanently preserved and the climate and resources are protected.

FH Aachen, one of the most research-intensive universities of applied sciences in Germany, has also committed itself to these goals. Sustainability is a multi-dimensional concept consisting of ecological, economic and social factors. Accordingly, sustainability topics can also be found in the diverse research of the FH Aachen in all subject areas. Research projects in this spectrum are to be promoted in our project MINT - More Innovation for a New Tomorrow.

The promotion of young researchers, research infrastructure, the unbureaucratic continuation of expiring funding projects that are on the verge of a potentially groundbreaking result - we would like to make all of this possible together with you. The Research Fund for Sustainability at FH Aachen can make research possible that makes our world a little better.

"Join FH Aachen in contributing to the achievement of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. FH Aachen develops applied and innovative solutions for sustainability and a better future. You are making a valuable contribution with your commitment. Together we can achieve a lot. Let's tackle it."

Every euro counts. This is what your donation can achieve:

  • With 1500 euros, for example, you make valuable laboratory equipment possible.
  • With 7500 euros, for example, you finance a Graduate Assistant for one semester.
  • With 10,000 euros, a 3D laser scanner could be purchased to advance autonomous driving in rail vehicle technology.

Sustainable hydrogels for reforestation in Greece

Global climate change is leading to noticeable changes in our environment. This can be experienced at first hand in Greece, among other places: Heat and drought have repeatedly led to devastating forest fires in the region around Athens. As a result, not much is left of the formerly green forest areas of the municipality of Kaisariani. The municipality, NGOs and volunteer youths are therefore planning a joint action for reclamation. With the support of the Research Fund for Sustainable Development, the FH Aachen is also participating in this project. As part of a final thesis, the effect of sustainable bio-based hydrogels as water-storing soil additives on plant growth is to be investigated, especially in the early stages of development. With the aim of also countering the effects of climate change with scientific methods, this project involves planting and working together and across national borders - on site and in the laboratory. The team is scientifically accompanied and supported by the external experts Dr Heiner Hoogen and Dr Oliver Bens.
