Working with disabilities

At the FH Aachen, about five percent of the employees have a severe disability or an equal status. In order to represent their interests in the best possible way, there is a representative body for severely disabled persons. It promotes the integration of severely disabled people into the respective department and thus also represents their interests. Integration support is used to adapt the workplace design to the individual needs of the respective employee with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

As an university, we want to enable our employees to participate on an equal footing and without discrimination. Possible barriers are constantly identified and removed, and if this is not possible, appropriate individual compensation is actively sought.

The goal is to offer all employees a working environment in which they are supported in a way that is appropriate to their opportunities. In order to be able to guarantee this, we offer easily accessible information and counselling services through our representative for severely disabled persons. In addition, we offer our employees occupational health management and support the further development of interest groups.
