Personal
It is important to us to provide our students with optimal support throughout their studies. Even before studying, students can take a math pre-course, which not only helps to refresh old knowledge, but also to establish initial social contacts for studying. Often, these become friendships that outlast the studies. The Fachschaft (Student Representative Council) offers Bachelor students a freshers' week, during which you can not only get to know the faculty and its facilities, but also the student representatives of the Fachschaft, professors and staff of the faculty and, of course, other fellow students. Bachelor students are offered mentoring programs at the beginning of their studies, in which they are supported in questions concerning their studies or the successful organization of their course of studies. If further subject-related questions arise later in the course of studies, students can contact the academic advisors. The faculty has a liaison lecturer to whom you can turn in confidence if you have problems with courses. The Examination Office can help you with all matters concerning administering or registrating examinations. If you are planning a semester abroad, you will find a first point of contact in the faculty.
Otherwise, there are other contact points outside the faculty that can be contacted if necessary, such as the Student Service Center, the Registrar's Office, the Psychosocial Counseling Service, the library, the Office for Suggestions and Complaints, and the AStA. Contacts within and outside the Faculty 8 are listet on the website Faculty 8 - Points of contact.
Above all - and this should be emphasized here - our faculty is characterized by short distances: Everyone can reach everyone personally. We want you to reach your goal, the acquisition of a Bachelor's or Master's degree, and accompany and support you as best as possible on your way there.
