Freshman Program
Freshman Program – Preparation for students from abroad
The Freshman Program is a joint program of the Freshman Institute of the FH Aachen and the Aachen Institute of Applied Sciences e.V. (AcIAS e.V.). The Freshman Institute of the FH Aachen is responsible for the quality control of the Freshman Program, as well as the supervision of the teaching content and issuing the final certificates. The Aachen Institute of Applied Sciences e.V. (AcIAS e.V.) is responsible for the financial aspects, the framework conditions and the implementation of the Freshman Program.
The Freshman Program fee for 2025/26 is €21,500 (including €500 deposit for the apartment).
Research and development projects
Research and development projects are carried out via and by AcIAS. For a variety of reasons, implementation within the university is not possible or too costly here, so AcIAS can provide support.
Examples
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Schleser In the area of "Joining Technology", various topics related to welding and bonding technology are dealt with on an ongoing basis. The focus is particularly on training, consulting and R&D cooperation with external partners of the UAS. Examples from 2017/2018 - Employee training of a regional SME on the topic of "Welding design". - Employee training of a regional SME on the topic of "arc welding". - Joining technology consulting and R&D work on the welding of additively manufactured metallic components - Various adhesive bonding consultations - Damage assessment of a defective welding torch
