Rules of Conduct

Bags & Jackets

Jackets, coats and bags may be taken into the library. If you use materials regularly at the university or would like to lock up your items during your break, there are lockers available for you.

Phone Calls

Out of consideration for others, set your smartphone to silent. Before using your phone, please leave the rooms of the library.

Books & Journals

Please handle all media with care. Do not write in books, do not fold pages and please remove all stickers before returning the books.

Please leave books and journals that you have taken from the shelves but do not wish to borrow at the service desk.

Time-Out-Disc (Pausenscheibe)

Why?

To ensure that your study space remains reserved for the duration of your break, the library offers you a Time-Out-Disc.

How?

The principle of the Time-Out-Disc is the same as that of a parking disc. When you leave your workstation, please set the current time. You then have a maximum of 60 minutes to take a break. After that, the space can be occupied by other users and existing work materials can be pushed to the side. No liability is accepted for items left behind at the workstation.

Where?

You will find the Time-Out-Discs at our service desks. After using them, please return them to the service desk.

Food & Beverages

Food and books do not mix well. That is why only water in sealable bottles may be taken into the library. The dining halls and cafeterias are the places at the university where you can eat and drink.

Quiet

We are delighted that the libraries are being used so frequently. The reading rooms and single-user workstations are quiet zones. You can hold conversations and work in groups in the group workspaces. In the interest of everyone, we would like to ask for a reasonable volume here as well.
