The DEAL consortium is launching an information campaign to raise awareness among academic authors in Germany of the importance of choosing the right licence for open access publications. Under the slogan "OPEN ACCESS MEANS CC BY", DEAL recommends the use of the Creative Commons licence "CC BY" whenever it is available.
The website https://deal-konsortium.de/en/why-ccby briefly and concisely explains the reasons why a restrictive licence such as "non-commercial (NC)" or "non-derivative (ND)" should not be used.
