Programme content
In the 4 semesters of the Master's degree programme, you have to complete modules totalling 30 credit points in each semester.
Depending on your personal inclination, you choose modules from the module catalogues Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Scientific Computing, Engineering, Data Science and Advanced Data Science.
At the end of your studies, you must have completed modules from the Pure Mathematics and Scientific Computing module catalogues worth 10 credit points each and modules from the Applied Mathematics module catalogue worth a total of 20 credit points.
By choosing the remaining modules, you determine your areas of specialisation. Four areas of specialisation are offered in this degree programme:
- Applied Mathematics
- Scientific Computing
- Technology
- Data Science

When are you studying which areas of specialisation?
For the area of specialisation Applied Mathematics, you must complete modules from the module catalogue Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, each worth 10 credit points. In addition, you must also complete modules totalling 10 credit points from the Technology or Data Science module catalogue.
For the areas of specialisation in Scientific Computing, you must complete modules from the Scientific Computing module catalogue worth a total of 10 credit points. In addition, you must complete modules totalling 20 credit points from the Technology or Data Science module catalogue.
For the area of specialisation in Technology , you must complete modules totalling 30 credit points from the Technology module catalogue.
For the area of specialisation Data Science, you must complete modules totalling at least 20 credit points from the Data Science module catalogue and modules totalling a maximum of 10 credit points from the EDS module catalogue.
