Electrical Engineering PLuS B.Eng. (dual)
Electrical Engineering PLuS(practice/teachingand study) is an eight-semester dual studies programme.
The dual study programme Electrical Engineering PLuS combines theory and practice:
- In branch A, the electrical engineering degree programme is completed with an integrated apprenticeship,
- In branch B, the electrical engineering degree programme is combined with work experience in a company without training.
In branch A, you complete a vocational training programme in the first five semesters alongside your university studies. You complete this with an IHK examination to become an electronics technician for industrial engineering or a HWK examination to become an electronics technician in the subject area of energy and building technology.
During the first two semesters, you do not sit in a lecture hall, but concentrate on your training/practical phases in the company. During this time, FH Aachen equips you with basic knowledge in maths, physics and electrical engineering at the vocational college for technology in Düren. This will make the transition to the third semester - your first semester at university - much easier.
In the following three semesters, you will study four days a week at FH Aachen. One weekday is still reserved for your training/practical phases. During this time, you will study maths, science and engineering subjects. From the third semester onwards, the periods
at the training company are limited to the lecture-free periods. In the fifth semester, you will complete your training with the IHK examination or the HWK examination.
From the sixth semester onwards, you will study five days a week at FH Aachen. You will familiarise yourself with subject-specific fundamentals such as classic electrical engineering systems, apply technical processes in an engineering manner and understand the scientific relationships between the individual sub-disciplines. You will experience the entire spectrum of electrical power engineering, from the electrical equipment of power plants, photovoltaics and wind power to the equipment of nuclear power plants.
In addition to the content of the seventh semester, namely electrical drives, energy distribution and grid management, you will choose your own personal areas of specialisation in the field of renewable energy systems. In the eighth semester, you also decide for yourself which topic you think is suitable for your practical project and your Bachelor's thesis. All in all, the course content of the dual study programme in Electrical Engineering PLuS corresponds to that of the regular Bachelor's degree programme in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) at FH Aachen's Jülich campus.
The bottom line: four years of high tension, two degrees and an optimal start to your career!
