The Master's degree programme in Medizintechnik/Medical Engineering is an admission-free degree programme. Suitable applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy with a technical focus can also apply for the Master's degree programme in Medical Engineering.

 

Bachelor's degree with 180 credits

  • Applicants from abroad: Your Bachelor's degree with at least 180 ECTS (credit points) must have been completed at the time of application. Bachelor's degree certificate and transcript of records must be uploaded with the online application.
  • Applicants from the EU who will not have completed their Bachelor's degree until the start of the Master's programme must still upload their current transcript of records with all grades. They must also have a minimum of 180 ECTS (credit points) after completing their Bachelor's degree.

 

CGPA / Curriculum

For a successful application, the CGPA must be at least 2.59 (German grading system).
However, as the relevance of the curriculum decreases (certain subjects are tested during the application process), a better CGPA is required to compensate.

Complete documentation includes in all cases

  • an official description of the grading system used at the respective university, including an explanation of the minimum and maximum passing grade (i.e. the lowest possible grade with which an examination can be passed and the highest possible grade with which an examination can be passed)
  • If necessary, an official translation into German or English
  • The original documents must be uploaded. They do not need to be notarised at this stage, as the documents will be checked during registration. However, translations must come from official sources.

 

Preferences for research topics must be indicated during the application process

The degree programme includes an extensive research-oriented part that allows you to continuously develop specialist expertise over three semesters and concludes with the Master's thesis in the fourth semester.

As an applicant, you will indicate your research topics according to your own interests. As supervision by lecturers from Faculty 9 is mandatory, please find out about the research topics offered by the lecturers.

Proof of English language skills

  • TOEFL 68 points (Internet based testing)
  • 5.5 IELTS Overall band-score
  • School grade in English of at least satisfactory (befriedigend) in the final certificate of the general university entrance qualification (Abitur) or the entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences (Fachabitur)
  • English is your native language (Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States of America)

 

Proof of German language skills

  • German is your mother tongue
  • At least DSH 2, level C1 (Goethe Institute or TELC)
  • At least "Test DaF Level 3" (= 4x3, according to the European Framework of Reference)
  • Degree from a German language degree programme at (at least) Bachelor's level
