Rail Vehicle Engineering B.Eng.
Full-time program
We love railways! Rail vehicles can help to ensure our mobility tomorrow. In our Bachelor's degree programme, you will learn how to design, manufacture, approve and maintain rail vehicles, building on the fundamentals of mechanical engineering. During your studies, you will learn about the technology of rail vehicles from us, experts from the railway industry and in very practical projects.
We all want to stay mobile, but as sustainably as possible. More than half of the world's population lives in cities where the car is no longer sufficient as the answer to all mobility questions. Your future tasks, already in your studies and of course in your career, will support the technologically leading European railway industry in making the world a bit more sustainable, comfortable and safe, one step at a time.
Rail Vehicle Technology is a seven-semester full-time degree programme with a study volume of 210 credits.
The study programme is structured in modules that build on each other and include different types of events. These can be, for example, lecture, tutorial and practical course. A module is often concluded by a written examination. Each module comprises a certain number of ECTS credit points. The sum of the ECTS credit points of a semester is always 30.

Are you thinking about studying rail vehicle technology?
You will love your studies and your future career if you:
- like to work in a team, because most projects are too complex to "manage" alone.
- are enthusiastic about technology (from mechanics to software), because you will learn something new every day.
- you are able to organize yourself, because in your job and in your studies you are very free and have to make your own decisions.
- communicate well, because you will need many colleagues to get your vehicle on the track.
- be able to take responsibility, after all we are talking about human lives and very expensive vehicles and infrastructure.
- are mobile, as the industry is wide-ranging due to its specialization.
