In the meantime, new opportunities have been created for lateral entry into the teaching profession. One of these is the so-called OBAS, which provides a 24-month extra-occupational preparatory service for graduates. During this time, the prospective teachers already receive a salary.

Until now, lateral entry (teaching without a teaching degree) into the teaching profession was reserved exclusively for graduates with a university degree. This has recently and fortunately changed, so that graduates of a subject-related FH Master's degree can also seek lateral entry.
