Internship Abroad
In times of increasing global networking, international competence is more in demand than ever. An internship abroad is ideal for getting to know other ways of working and living, improving your foreign language skills and applying and expanding your specialist knowledge. Through the organisation and everyday challenges abroad, soft skills such as flexibility, independence and cultural openness are also promoted. One's own personality profile is thus sharpened and one's horizons broadened.
Your possibilities
Practical activity
Bachelor's degree programmes generally require proof of practical work, which in most degree programmes comprises 8-16 weeks and must generally be proven by the beginning of the 3rd semester at the latest. It is possible to complete the practical work abroad and thus combine subject-specific practical experience with a stay abroad. The time and duration of the practical training are determined by the Examination Regulations and the support programmes.
Practical semester
Many degree programmes are now offered with and without an integrated practical semester. Here, too, you have the option of spending this practical semester abroad. If the internship abroad is to be recognised, the procedure is similar to the recognition of a domestic internship. The internship representative of the faculty must be informed in advance and the corresponding forms must be filled out.
Voluntary practical training
With a voluntary or non-mandatory practical training, you are relatively flexible in terms of timing and duration. Although the start and end of the practical training is also determined by external factors such as the employer, holiday periods or possible support programmes, the choice of the practical training place is not as subject-specific as with the "compulsory practical training".
