RoboCup
The "Logistics League Sponsored by FESTO" (LLSF) has existed under the umbrella of the international RoboCup Federation since 2012.
The aim of the competitions in this league is to perform logistics services in a flexible production scenario with mobile robots. In the process, the robot software has to perform complex tasks such as navigation, localisation and production planning. (More information on the league at www.robocup-logistics.org)
The Aachen team "Carologistics" (carologistics.de) has been participating in the LLSF since 2012. The team consists of students from the TH and FH who programme the autonomous robots. The students learn how to programme mobile robot systems that are used in complex scenarios. This prepares them for a new future scenario known as "Industry 4.0". Industry 4.0 is understood as the move away from mass production towards the production of small batch sizes (customisation). To support the production process, more and more mobile robot systems will be used.
In 2013, the Carologistics team will participate in the German Open in April in Magdeburg (robocupgermanopen.de) and in the RoboCup 2013 in Eindhoven (robocup2013.org).
