Digital autodidactics in practice - operating additive manufacturing systems
Students want more independent practical application to prepare them for their professional life!
"Digital Autodidactics in Practice" is a student project at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics at FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences, which promotes independent and practical learning.
The concept enables students to work independently on application-related learning content via an application that accompanies the interaction with a production system. This prepares students for their professional life in a practical way and they can directly implement the contents they have learned. The lack of opportunities for students to work independently on production systems in a practical environment provided the incentive for the implementation.
Within the framework of the project, a connection between digital learning content and manufacturing machines in the area of additive manufacturing is being created as an example for future practical applications. In this way, the links gained between digital autodidactics and the production facilities of the industry-related processes "Fused Layer Modelling" and "Selective Laser Sintering" can also be projected onto any other subject areas and their production facilities.
Safety, learning progress and acceptance of the didactics are increased through playful practice and evaluation of the results achieved.
