Maternity leave for students
Since the beginning of 2018, pregnant and breastfeeding students also benefit from the legal regulations of the Maternity Protection Act.
The aim of the new maternity protection law is to ensure the best possible health protection for pregnant and breastfeeding students as well as the unborn child. In addition, disadvantages due to pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding are to be avoided or compensated for in order to create equal opportunities.
The information sheet on maternity protection explains exactly what rights students have under maternity protection, what options are available during the special maternity protection periods and what the formal procedure is.
Students are free to report their pregnancy to the university. However, the university can only fulfil its duty of care if it has been informed by the student that she is pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you decide to report your pregnancy, please fill out the form "Notification of Pregnancy" completely, submit it by email, post or in person to the Family Office.
Once you have been notified of your pregnancy, a formal risk assessment will be carried out for you individually and, if necessary, an adjustment made to your study conditions. In this way, the university ensures that the health of the mother and child at the place at university is not at risk during pregnancy, after delivery and during breastfeeding.
We are happy to help you design your individual path during this special period of study and find the right measure for you to enable the study progress to be as undisturbed as possible!

By arrangement, slightly younger or older children can also take part in the holiday programme.
The children can expect a varied holiday programme with lots of fun and games and always new adventures. In addition, excursions into nature are planned every week. Holiday care is available daily between 8 am and 5 pm. By arrangement, care can also be provided on a daily basis. The holiday care takes place both in Aachen and in Jülich.
Lunch is provided in the university canteen on all days of holiday care. In addition, the children receive sufficient drinks and healthy snacks throughout the day.
