This also includes the respective overseas territories of the countries mentioned.
One month is calculated as 30 days.
Duration of the financial support:
- Start of internship between 01.09.2022 and 31.08.2023 to the day
- Start of internship between 01.09.2023 and 31.08.2024 to the day
- Start of internship between 01.09.2024 and 31.08.2025 not yet known
"Exactly to the day" means that the scholarship will cover the entire eligible and certified period and not just a fixed, maximum period. There is also no rounding up or down in the case of fractions of months.
Travel days are not included in the calculation.
The instalments consist of the funding rate applicable to the respective country plus an internship supplement of 150 euros per month.
The rates apply to standard mobility of between 2 and 12 months.
Separate amounts apply for short term mobility.
Special funding for participants with "fewer opportunities" is provided in the form of top-ups, which are granted in addition to the monthly instalments. Special subsidies are available for:
- Participants with a disability
- Participants with a chronic illness
- participants with accompanying child(ren)
- participants who are gainfully employed
- Participants from a non-academic family.
In addition, there is a supplement for sustainable travel ("green travel").
Information on special funding is available here: Erasmus+
70% of the scholarship will be paid at the beginning of the practical training and the remaining 30% at the end, after receipt and verification of the required proofs and certificates.
If a practical training is combined with a study period at a partner university, the mobility is considered a study period and is funded by the Erasmus+ study grant.
4 Application and documents
Application deadline:
- You can apply continuously at any time.
- You should apply as soon as your plans become concrete: you should know approximately when you would like to start your practical training and what you would like to do in terms of content.
- Incomplete applications will also be processed.
- Deadline for students (practical training): 2 months before the start of your practical training at the latest.
- Deadline for prospective graduates (graduate internship): at the latest 2 months before you graduate, i.e. before your last academic achievement to be completed. As a rule, this is your colloquium. 5 What happens after your application?
You will receive a confirmation of receipt.
After reviewing your application, the scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the selection criteria.
After successful selection, you will receive a scholarship confirmation and the scholarship documents. The scholarship documents include the grant agreement. This document sets out all the terms and conditions of your scholarship. The grant agreement must be legally binding before you begin your practical training. This means that it must be signed by both you and the FH Aachen and submitted here in the original. Please note that practical training that has already begun cannot be funded.
With the scholarship contract you will also receive the student charter, which contains all rights and obligations of Erasmus+ scholarship holders.
During the practical training:
- Upon arrival at your destination institution, you will need to submit an arrival confirmation.
- If there are any changes to your practical training, this will be communicated via a Notice of Change. The "During the Mobility" section of the Learning Agreement is used for this purpose.
- Should the practical training be extended, the extension must be requested at least 30 days before the end of the scholarship contract.
- The agreement on the extension must be concluded before the end of the current grant.
After the practical training:
- At the end of the practical training, you must submit a certificate of completion.
- You will also receive a qualified internship certificate. This is the "After the Mobility" section of the Learning Agreement.
- After your stay, you will receive an email from the EU asking you to complete an electronic final report ("EU Survey"). Please follow the link provided and complete the questionnaire online.
- Furthermore, the steps for the recognition of your practical training will follow.
- If the final documents are not submitted by the deadline, the Erasmus+ funding will have to be reclaimed.
- In order to evaluate the practical experience and to provide guidance for future students who are also interested in an internship abroad, we would like to ask you to prepare a personal experience report about your internship abroad for us. You will receive a template that you can use as a guide with your scholarship documents.
You will receive detailed information on the procedure together with your scholarship documents after you have been awarded your scholarship.
We look forward to accompanying you as your contacts before, during and after your stay.
6 Selection criteria
The selection criteria include:
-
Quality of the application
formal criteria such as compliance with submission deadlines and completeness; quality of the application documents; quality of the project; relevance to the degree programme or career aspirations; eligibility for funding in accordance with the guidelines. -
Academic performance
in particular grades and academic progress, previous studies -
Foreign language skills
especially level of working language of practical training -
Interests and commitment
Individual characteristics such as personality profile; political, social, cultural, international or societal interests and corresponding commitment -
Availability of funds
If there are not enough funds available, the selection will be based on the date of receipt of the application.
7 Language test and language courses
The language skills required for the successful completion of your practical training, as well as the type of proof, are first agreed with your target institution. The agreed language level will then be entered and agreed in your Learning Agreement. A minimum level of B1 in the working language is required under the Erasmus+ traineeship funding.
It is advisable to take a language test in the working language before starting your practical training in order to get an up-to-date assessment of your language skills. This is optional for practical trainings starting between 01.09.2022 and 31.08.2023. This also applies to practical trainings starting between 01.09.2023 and 31.08.2024.
The European Commission provides an online language test for the most commonly used languages for this purpose.
In addition, it is possible to participate in online language courses in the most common working and national languages via the OLS portal.
You will receive an invitation to participate in the online language offer with your scholarship documents.
8 Blended Mobility
In principle, all practical trainings can be carried out as a mixed format (blended mobility). This means that a virtual phase, which is carried out from Germany, can be combined with physical mobility in the destination country. The virtual phase is part of your scholarship contract, but is not financially supported, as the funding relates to the additional costs incurred abroad.
Further information on blended mobility can be found here: Erasmus+
