Equipment

Printer

You can print out documents for your own use in almost all of FH Aachen's buildings. To do so, please use the printing stations of the library.

Upload a Document

In the first step, upload your document as a PDF file. You can use the PDF-Upload from any location.

In the Boxgraben and Bayernallee libraries, you have the option of printing in the A3 format. The PDF document must already be saved in A3 format before uploading.

Adjusting the Print Job

In the second step, log in with your FH Identifier at one of the printing stations listed below. You then have the option of adjusting your print job (e.g. black and white or colour, double-sided,...). Before printing, you will be shown the exact amount charged for the print job.

Paying for the Print Job

Once you submit the print job, the print fee will be charged to your library account. Pay your print fees immediately after completing the print job. You have the following options:

  • Cashless, with your FH Karte at the payment station
  • For amounts of € 5 or more, by bank transfer to the FH Aachen account:
    IBAN DE11 3905 0000 1070 8591 43 | BIC: AACSDE33 | reference line: your FH Identifier and your name
  • In cash, during the service hours in your branch library

Remember to select your home library so that you can see the appropriate lending status in the detailed information display.

What is allowed inside & what is not?

The library accepts no liability for the items stored. We, therefore, recommend that you do not leave any valuables that you urgently need in the locker (e.g. money, laptop, keys, medication, etc.).

What can be placed in the locker?

    Books
    Learning utensils
    Personal items

What is not allowed to be placed in the locker?

    Perishable food

Substances or objects hazardous to health

Loan Period & Renewal

The loan period for the Bayernallee and Eupener Straße locker keys is usually four weeks and can be renewed at any time. You must present the key at the library after 24 weeks at the latest.

In the Bayernallee, Boxgraben and Eupener Straße libraries, lockers with a shortened loan period are available. These lockers are only accessible during the library's opening hours.

Please note that you can only hand in the keys to the library staff during service hours and not at the self-service terminal.

Loss & Fees

If a key is lost, the user bears the cost of replacing the key and pays an additional administrative fee of €25.00.

General Information

The University Library of FH Aachen does not assume any liability for the items stored in the lockers. It is not permissible to use more than one locker at the same time. The locker must be emptied and locked before the key is returned! You can find further information on the use of lockers in the Locker Regulations.

Payment Station

A payment station for cashless payment of your library fees (e.g. late fees and printing fees) is available in all of our libraries and in study room 3205 at Goethestraße. Your PIN is preset to your date of birth DDMM and can be changed at your own discretion in your user account.

Before making a payment, load your FH Karte with credit at one of the top-up machines in the dining halls and cafeterias, or by SEPA order.

Self-Service

During opening hours, you can borrow and return media all by yourself. All you need is your FH Karte and your PIN. Your PIN is preset to your date of birth DDMM and can be changed in your library account.

Please place your media on the glass top of the self-service terminal. The bookings are made automatically and are shown to you on the display.

No FH Karte is required when returning media items.

After the booking has been completed, you will receive your booking voucher either as a printout or by email.

Borrowing media via the self-service terminal is not possible...

  • for media from the non-lending collection
  • for media from course reserves
  • for media borrowed via interlibrary loan
  • if your library account has been blocked

In the above cases, please consult the staff at the circulation desk.

Return Box

Please note the following for the use of the return boxes:

  • The booking of the returned media will only take place on the next working day. Therefore, please return your books no later than one working day before the deadline expires! Late returns will incur a fee.
  • Insert carefully! Please place books with their spine facing downwards into the slot.
  • Do not drop off interlibrary loans, keys or oversized media.
  • You will not receive a receipt at the return box.
  • The borrower is personally responsible for returning the books. Please do not place any books on top of the return box if it is full.

The return boxes are located outside the library and are, therefore, available to you during the occasionally longer opening hours of the buildings. We do not have a return box available for you at the Boxgraben branch library.
