Change of Degree Programme and University

Are you a university transfer student and have already earned credits at another university? If so, these credits may be recognised in accordance with the Higher Education Act, the Framework Examination Regulations and the Examination Regulations for the respective degree programme.
To do so, apply to the Examination Board of the Faculty of Business Studies for recognition of study and examination credits completed elsewhere.
After starting the examination at FH Aachen, recognition is no longer possible.

 

Please submit the following documents:

  • Fully completed application form (as .xlsx)
  • Copy of the transcript of records
  • Module descriptions of all modules that are to be recognised
  • Proof of English language skills
  • form Einstufung in ein höheres Fachsemester ("Classification in a Higher Subject-Specific Semester") (can be found here)

Please bear in mind that some degree programmes in higher semesters are subject to admission restrictions. This means that there is no guarantee that you will get a university place.

Important Deadlines

intended start of studies in the summer semester:
Submission of applications for recognition: 6 weeks before application deadline at the latest

intended start of studies in the winter semester:
Submission of applications for recognition: 6 weeks before application deadline at the latest.

 

First Step: Classification

In order to transfer to FH Aachen, you must obtain a confirmation of your classification in a higher subject-specific semester from the Examination Office of the Faculty of Business Studies.

For the application via the online application portal, you will need the confirmation of classification into a higher subject-specific semester in digital format/as a scan.

 

Second Step: Online Application

In order to transfer to FH Aachen, you must complete the online application. Please visit the pages of the Registrar's Office to check the application deadlines.


Please do not deregister from the other university until you have received a letter of admission (Zulassungsbescheid) from FH Aachen.

Third Step: Submission of Documents

If the answer is positive, you will receive a letter of admission from the Registrar's Office, which contains information about the registration time frame as well as a list of documents that you still need to bring with you. As a rule, these are


1. the letter of admission,
2. valid identity card, passport or confirmation of residence/Meldebestätigung (a copy in case of written registration)
3. a receipted deposit slip or bank statement showing the social contribution/student activity fee paid in,
4. current proof of student health insurance,
5. deregistration certificate,
6. clearance certificate for transfer students from universities of applied sciences in the same degree programme,
7. classification certificate from the faculty examination office.

University Transfer Students with a Foreign University Entrance Qualification

As a university transfer student for Bachelor's degree programmes with a foreign university entrance qualification, you must first have the "uni-assist" institution pre-check whether your foreign certificates meet the requirements of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen (ZaB)) and are generally sufficient for admission to a university in Germany. Please follow the subsequent information.
