Specialization
Choice of Specialization in the Bachelor Program Mechanical Engineering B.Eng.
6 Fields of specialisation
Students in the bachelor's program Mechanical Engineering have to choose one of the six specializations by the 4th semester (full-time program) or, respectively, by 6th semester (in the part-time program). Thus, they can set a focus on new technologies:
Students of the Bachelor's degree programme in Mechanical Engineering must decide on a specialisation in the 4th semester and set thus a focus on new technologies.
The following six specialisations are available:
- Additive manufacturing
- Energy technology
- Product development and design
- Product development and production
- Production Management and Digitalisation
- Robotics
Each specialisation is defined by 4 compulsory elective modules, which together with the 2 arbitrary elective modules result in a total of 36 credit points (LP). The specialisation is not chosen directly. By selecting the compulsory elective modules, students indirectly choose a specialisation.
2 Arbitrary elective modules
In addition to these 4 compulsory elective modules, 2 elective modules must be completed. For these two elective modules, the examination regulations contain 6 elective module recommendations per specialisation. However, students can choose from the entire elective module catalogue, i.e. they can:
- either select 2 elective modules from the 6 arbitrary elective modules recommended for a specific specialisation
- or you can choose two elective modules from another specialisation
- or one elective module from each of two specialisations.
