Contents of the Full-Time Mechatronics Program (B.Eng.)
The First 3 Semesters
In the first three semesters of the full-time degree programme, you will acquire the basic skills in mathematics, natural sciences and engineering. Each module concludes with an examination. In the fourth to sixth semesters, compulsory modules provide in-depth knowledge of mechatronics and basic business knowledge. The module "General Competences" serves to acquire important methodological competences that go beyond the narrower field of engineering. Such competences can be acquired, for example, in the context of tutoring activities or through participation in important university committees.
Elective Modules in the 3rd to 6th Semester
In the elective area in the third to sixth semester, you can set an individual focus and specialise in a technical field. For example, you can acquire in-depth knowledge in control engineering, design engineering, numerical simulation of complex systems, production engineering and quality assurance, microelectronic and micromechanical components and much more.
2 Projects
As engineers very often work in a project-oriented manner, two projects are an integral part of the programme, which are carried out in teams of three to eight students. In the projects, you will be familiarised with the basic elements of modern project management methods, presentation and communication techniques and creativity techniques. You will learn to familiarise yourself independently with a new topic, to organise yourself in a group and to take responsibility for individual areas of the project.
The 7th Semester
Practical Project and Bachelor's Thesis
The seventh semester includes the practical project and the Bachelor's thesis with the final colloquium. During the first half of the semester, the practical project is to be carried out in an industrial company under the supervision of a professor. You will carry out engineering activities and document these in a final report.
The practical project emphasises the industrial orientation of the degree programme. After completing this project and submitting the final report, you can be admitted to your Bachelor's thesis. This final thesis is written independently by you, supervised by a professor and, to a very large extent, carried out in an industrial company. The task usually has a design-orientated, experimental or empirical focus.
After completing the Bachelor's thesis, the programme concludes with a colloquium in which you report on your Bachelor's thesis in a presentation and then face critical questions in a subsequent discussion and defend your Bachelor's thesis.
