Promoting Talents

More educational and equal opportunities for pupils in the Aachen city region and the districts of Düren, Heinsberg and Euskirchen: Both Aachen universities are committed to moving closer to this goal and are bundling their measures in the form of cooperation programmes and projects.

In the "Talent Scouting" programme, the talent scouts of both universities cooperate with vocational colleges, comprehensive schools and grammar schools in order to identify gifted students in the upper school and provide them with individual support in the transition from school to professional studies. The aim is to supplement the services offered by the student advisory services of both universities with a low-threshold, individual, long-term approach.

Since summer 2022, promotion of talents has been supplemented by the "NRWTalente - Region Aachen" scholarship programme. High-achieving students from all types of school from the 8th grade onwards receive personal counselling and support as well as material and non-material support. Practical offers in culture, politics and society provide the opportunity to gain new experiences and further deepen specialist knowledge. In December 2022, the first 30 scholarship holders were ceremonially admitted to the programme.
