Talent scouting in Aachen
In the joint programme of RWTH and FH Aachen, the talent scouts accompany talented pupils from families without academic experience in the Aachen city region and the districts of Düren, Heinsberg and Euskirchen on their educational path.
Promoting educational equality and equal opportunities is a common goal of RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen University. To this end, the talent scouts of both universities cooperate with vocational colleges, comprehensive schools and grammar schools to identify gifted students and provide them with individual support in the transition from school to professional studies. The aim is to supplement the services offered by the student advisory services of both universities with a low-threshold, individual, long-term approach that always takes into account the context of the young person's life and assesses performance in this context.
The Talent Is in the Foreground
In talent scouting, the focus is on the talent with its individual wishes, interests and dreams. Talent scouting helps to discover hidden talents by encouraging people to develop visions for their professional future, pointing out paths, creating helpful networks and overcoming barriers together. The talent scout is a personal companion and can help to recognise and promote personal strengths. The talent is supported in developing confidence in their own abilities so that they can make full use of their own potential. He or she can talk about the choice of advanced courses, career choices and fears for the future, and get advice on what financing options are available for their own plans.
The talent scouts can point out different perspectives, arrange contacts, open doors and obtain important information. In this way, the talent should be given the opportunity to actively shape their own future independently, regardless of their background or type of school.
