Can I Get Personal Counselling?
Of course you can! There are various options for you.

- For more specific questions, please contact the Subject-Specific Academic Counselling (Fachstudienberatung).
- The university's largest information event, the HIT (University Information Day), takes place in Aachen every year. Here, in addition to General Academic Counselling, counsellors for all degree programmes are also on site.
- You will find our counsellors at various other fairs, where you can also get comprehensive advice from the staff at the info stand.
- On Open Day (held every 2 years), you can come visit the university and talk to the teaching staff.
When Do Studies Commence?
The degree programme can be taken up in either the summer or winter semester.
Is There a "Numerus Clausus" for This Degree Programme?
A recognised professionally qualifying first university degree with an overall grade of at least 2.8 is a precondition for admission to the degree programme, providing proof of the professional qualifications required for the Master's degree programmes.

With or Without a Practical Semester/Semester Abroad?
The Master's degree programme in Biotechnology is offered with and without a practical semester. This results in a study duration of three or four semesters. A practical semester is a whole semester that you usually spend outside our university, in industry or in a research institute, working on a project.
For the three-semester Biotechnology degree programme, the first professionally qualifying university degree is suitable if it comprises at least seven semesters of university studies and at least 210 credit points. The admission requirement for the four-semester Biotechnology Master's degree programme with Practical Semester is a professionally qualifying university degree comprising at least six semesters of university studies and at least 180 credit points.

Language Skills
The prerequisite for admission to the degree programme is sufficient command of the German language, which is proven with the German Language Examination for University Admission (DSH 2) or equivalent examinations (TestDaF TDN 4x4, FSP, DSD II, Goethe Zertifikat C2, Telc C1 Hochschule, ÖSD C2) according to the regulations for the German Language Examination for University Admission (DSH) at FH Aachen in their currently valid version.
Proof of English language skills is not required. However, we would like to point out that some of the courses in the degree programme are only offered in English.
